Expanded listing for: Floyd-Mitchell-Chickasaw Solid Waste Management Agency

Hours of Operation

Landfill hours of operation are 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, with all commercial loads required to be on the ground by 2:30pm, Monday through Friday unless notified otherwise. Last acceptable load of the day must be on the ground by 2:30 pm unless exempted by landfill staff. Unless otherwise notified, landfill hours shall not include Saturdays, Sundays. When winds reach 25 mph the staff will determine if waste can be contained. If not, regular haulers will be called and given the time of closing. If the Landfill closes before 1:00 pm it may reopen the next regular business day an hour early, at the staffs discretion. If you are not sure if we are open, call 877-982-4288 to confirm. If it is windy and you get the answering machine, we are probably closed. Extended Hours Policy The Agency Board has come up with an Extended Hours Policy which will allow contractor or haulers to request the landfill to be open later. Further, FMC reserves the right to close and deny disposing at the landfill at any time for any purpose, including, but not limited to the purposes of repair, maintenance and renovation of the landfill. Holidays Observed Holidays observed are New Year’s Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, Day before Christmas, Christmas Day.

If the Landfill closes before 1:00 pm it may reopen the next regular business day an hour early, unless the landfill is already scheduled to be closed that day, or if winds are too high that morning to open for business. If you are not sure if the landfill will be open, call 877-982-4288 to confirm. If it is windy and you get the answering machine, the landfill is probably closed. Covered Load Policy: To avoid an additional $20.00 fee all loads brought to the landfill must be entirely covered with a tarp, snow fence or similar item.. This includes lumber and large objects. Ropes alone are not considered a cover. Certain "difficult to cover loads" may be exempted on a case by case basis by the scale attendant.
