Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Indiana Recycling Coalition a recycling facility?
No. The IRC is not an authorized recycler, nor are we affiliated with any disposal services. We are a nonprofit whose mission is to support source reduction, reuse, composting, and recycling activities in the state of Indiana. Please come to us with your questions and concerns, not your cardboard and computers!
Where can I recycle my live Christmas tree?
1. The best option is to compost it in your own backyard.
2. If you cannot, remove all decorations and take to one of 9 Indy Parks from Monday, December 26th, 2016 through Tuesday January 31st, 2017.
3. Take tree directly to GreenCycle to compost for a small fee.
Why does it cost money to dispose of/recycle my old TV?!
Many older models of tv's and computer monitors have large amounts of lead inside of them (How Stuff Works) which prohibits their landfill disposal. The lead also makes these CRT TVs costly for E-cyclers to process. Therefore, do not be surprised when/if there is a $25-$45 charge associated with recycling it.
What do I do with my old CRT TV?
The following locations accept CRT's for recycling in Indiana. This list is not exhaustive; non-Marion county residents PLEASE CHECK the resources and programs on your COUNTY'S SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT DISTRICT WEBSITE FIRST.
