Description: The La Porte County Solid Waste District was formed in 1991 to reconcile the abundance of materials entering the waste stream. In addition to providing recycling services with the goal of waste reduction, the district is also involved in assuring the disposal capacity of the remaining solid wastes generated in the District.

Description: Appliances can be brought to the recycling center for a minimal fee.  Freon containing items such as refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioners are $20.00.  There is no chargefor stoves, water heaters, washers, dryers and other small appliances. From May through October good usable latex paint is collected and made available, free of charge, to the public. In addition, White County residents may drop off obsolete computers and televisions, copiers, fax machines, scanners, cell phones and other accessories to the center during normal business hours. Plastic flower pots and trays, as well as clear or white soil/mulch bags, are also accepted. *Free pick up of corrugated cardboard for local businesses is available for a minimal start up fee.
