Guidelines for Curbside Garbage Service
Curbside Garbage, Compost and Recycling Collection
Please place your garbage, compost and recycling out at the curb by 6:00am the day of your scheduled pickup.
Set recycling out so that it is visible to the route driver.
Make sure compost cans are clearly marked and visible to the route driver.
Prohibited Items: The following items cannot be picked up due to landfill or safety regulations.

Paint cans can only be taken if completely empty or paint is completely dry and hardened.
It must be set out next to garbage with lids off so driver can verify condition.
Any item that contains Freon. Freon must be removed by certified technician and have a tag with technicians license number on it. Once the Freon is removed and item is tagged, you can call us and schedule pickup. Appliance Place in Waterford provides this service. 248-683-3397

Doubling
We do not allow sharing of our services. Every customer must pay for services received at their individual residence.
Compost Bags

Originally founded in 1976, Emterra now services 50+ communities in Michigan stretching all the way east to Port Huron and northeast to cover Michigan’s thumb region. The company also owns and operates a tire recycling facility, a liquids processing and glass cullet facility, is a partner in plastic recycling operations, and operates over 600 trucks.
The Emterra Lansing MRF is equipped with a state-of-the-art glass cleaning system with grant support from Michigan Department of Energy Great Lakes and the Environment (EGLE) and includes machine learning robotic sorting of food service packaging and paper cartons and cups, funded with EGLE grant support and industry support from the Carton Council and the Foodservice Packaging Institute/Paper Cup Alliance.
