Materials:

Description: Prior to the opening of CHaRM, hard to recycle materials and hazardous waste were collected during scheduled events throughout the year by the Solid Waste Department. A CHaRM (Center for Hard to Recycle Materials) is a one stop drop for items that can’t be recycled at the curb or at the Athens-Clarke County recycling drop-off sites because they are deemed "hard to recycle" due to their nature (chemical composition, hazardous components, size, distance to end-market, etc.). The first CHaRM in the United States was established in Boulder, Colorado and opened in 2001. Funding for the Athens-Clarke County CHaRM was made possible through the approval of the 2011 SPLOST. This funding provided improvements to the old Solid Waste Department location at 1005 College Avenue as well as much needed equipment for processing. The new CHaRM facility opened on November 9, 2015 which allowed for customers to bring hazardous and hard to recycle materials year round. Purchase of equipment as outlined in the Project Concept continues to be purchased as the facility continues to expand and take additional recyclable materials.

Conservation districts in Michigan were formed to provide natural resource management services that help residents conserve their lands and our environment for a cleaner, healthier, economically-strong Michigan. Our Mission is to promote conservation, stewardship and sustainable use of the natural resources in Oceana County through landowner assistance and education. We address local concerns including: water quality, soil conservation, erosion control, land use/forest management, nonpoint source pollution, invasive species management, habitat improvement, etc. The Annual Household Hazardous Waste/Clean Sweep and Electronics Collection Event is held each year on the 3rd Saturday of August in partnership with Mason and Manistee Counties who have their own collection sites on the same date and times. We do not accept any type of wastes at any other time and not ever at our office locations. Description: At Brightmark, we like to think of ourselves as "Earth's Cleanup Crew," taking the waste out of nature and turning it into something good that benefits humanity. We recycle all plastic types 1-7, unlock their value, and create new products. We are the only company on Earth that can take all plastic types 1-7 and then provide real solutions. Currently, we are building the largest advanced plastics recycling facility on the entire planet. Here's a glimpse of how our technology works: 1. Post-use plastic is collected and shipped to our Plastics Renewal facility in Ashley, IN. Once received plastic is prepped by shredding, removing metals, drying, and pelletizing 2. Pellets are then extruded and feed into conversion vessels. Once inside, the material is heated and vaporized in an oxygen starved environment. 3. Vapor is captured and cooled into a hydrocarbon liquid. Which is processed into products such as recycled naphtha, ultra-low sulfur diesel, and eco-wax. 4. The finished products are then ready to be used again.
