Materials:

Description: Provide curbside recycling pickup to Calgary residents for a fee. Will accept broken glass containers. How to sort recycling for collection An easy way is like this. You are allowed 2 bins per week. * Put your newspapers,flyers,inserts and magazines in the bottom of one bin. * Cardboard and mixed paper go in the other. * Glass and Metal -- don't need to remove the labels or collapse the cans. -- Glass -- Put clean cap-less bottles in a grocery bag - don't tie the bag -- Metal -- In another untied bag put your metal cans, jar lids, clean foil and other metal. Set both bags on top of the newspaper. * Plastic 1 thru 5 . Put that along with your grocery bags and other soft plastic into another bag and place on top of the cardboard. Material: What we recycle 1. 2 recycling boxes (or equivalent) limit each week. 2. All Recycling MUST BE CLEANED or RINSED. 3. All Recycling MUST BE SORTED into the following 5 categories (You can separate the categories by using plastic shopping bags): Plastic - Includes hard plastic #1-5 only with a recycling symbol - Plastic bags; soft plastic that stretches - Milk Jugs Newsprint and magazines - Newspaper - Magazines - Inserts Mixed Paper - Includes all other paper and cardboard - Cardboard boxes MUST be broken down - Maximun size 3' x 3' - Shredded Paper - Milk Cartons - Phone Books - Textbooks Metal - Includes tin cans and small pieces of metal Glass - Includes all household glass (broken or whole) Refundable Beverage Containers - Please keep glass bottles seperate from pop cans and plastic water bottles etc. We do not accept the following: - Styrofoam - Foil lined potato chip bags - Plastic without a recycling symbol. - Dirty Recycling. - Batteries - Electronics - Motor Oil Containers/Corrosive containers(eg. Description: The following items are accepted at the Wetaskiwin Recycling Depot: Electronic Waste (E-Waste) Televisions; computers; computer components; computer peripherals (monitors; keyboards; printers; mice). Paper: Office Paper (can be loose or in clear bags); white window envelopes; cardboard milk cartons; clean food paper containers; paper bags; magazines; flyers; newspaper Cardboard (blue bin) Chip boxes; beer boxes; laundry detergent boxes; any boxes from packaging; wrapping paper rolls; brown window envelopes. Corrugated Cardboard (green bin) Corrugated cardboard only. Please flatten cardboard to conserve space in the bin. Tin Cans Labels must be removed. No other metals allowed. Glass Glass jars and bottles only with lids and labels removed. No other glass allowed. All household Plastics Compost (in cement bunker) Grass; leaves; garden waste. No bags or branches please. Description: See notes re curbside garbage and recycling as well as drop-off options CURBSIDE RECYCLING DETAILS: Co-mingled curbside program (blue bag) Items accepted: * Tin and Aluminum Cans: do not have to be flattened and the labels can stay on. * Glass: clear or coloured glass food containers are acceptable. * Newspapers: clean dry and uncontaminated. * Mixed Paper: All mixed paper except shredded paper can go in blue bags. Shredded paper should be in a separate blue bag and taken to the depot. It is not acceptable with other materials or door-to-door pick up. * Envelopes flyers boxboard and magazines * Corrugated Cardboard: must be flattened clean dry and uncontaminated. Boxboard pop cases pizza and cereal boxes are acceptable. * Clean Plastic Grocery Bags are acceptable. Place bags inside the blue bag. * Rigid Plastic: Only #1 and 2 clean plastic containers are acceptable. * Plastic Milk Jugs: Clear white plastic jugs must be well rinsed. Please remove lids and flatten as much as possible. Lids and caps or any other types of plastic leftover milk containers are not acceptable. * Milk Cartons: well rinsed and flattened as much as possible. Leftover milk is not acceptable. NOT accepted: * Wet or dirty paper products * Coloured glass mixed with clear tableware cookware and light bulbs lids or attachments dirty containers and ceramic materials are not acceptable * Styrofoam * Heavily taped or stapled packing material * Wet dirty or oily cardboard For more information please contact the Aspen Client Services Client Services Department at 780-542-5919.
