Description: Is a registered Class II and III landfill that can accept most types of solid waste with the exception of Hazardous, Industrial or Oilfield Waste. The Landfill is approved to accept large municipal, commercial, construction, renovation, and demolition waste. Please visit the county website for hours and details on the waste and recycling sites in Athabasca County Perryvale Transfer Site Colinton Transfer Site Whispering Hills Transfer Site Athabasca Transfer Site Grassland Transfer Site Wandering River Transfer Site Smith Transfer Site Flatbush Transfer Site Free drop-off of recyclables: - Plastic Bottles, Tubs, Pails, Shopping Bags & Sheet Plastic - Tin Cans - scrap metal and appliances - Clear Glass Bottles & Jars - Cardboard and Boxboard - Newspaper, Magazines, Phone Books, Office Paper - Tires - TVs, Computers & Printers, Microwaves, Inkjet & Toner Cartridges - Left Over Paint, - Lead Acid Batteries, Rechargeable Batteries - Agricultural Pesticide Containers - Oil Filters, Oil Jugs & Pails. All sites will accept household waste as well as · Non-toxic burnable material (with the exception of the Athabasca Transfer site) · Scrap metal · White goods (appliances, intact refrigerators and freezers) · Tires · Agricultural Pesticide Containers (please deliver large quantities directly to the Colinton Transfer site) · Recyclable Materials such as Milk Containers, All Plastic Jugs, All Plastic Tubs and Pails, Plastic Bags, Tin Cans, Clear Glass, Cardboard, Newspaper, Office Paper, Fluorescent Light Tubes, TV's and Computers, Oil Jugs and Pails, Ni-cd Rechargeable Batteries, Ink Jet and Toner Cartridges, Lead Acid Batteries and more. · Paint – unused paint may be delivered only to the Athabasca Transfer Site or the Boyle Landfill from April 1st to October 31st. · Used Oil - may be delivered only to the Athabasca Transfer Site or the Boyle Landfill year round. Description: Recycling and Organic Waste are collected bi-weekly on alternating weeks. Materials are to be placed out the same day as your regular garbage collection. Recycling is collected year round, while organic waste is collected from April 1 until November 15. Clear or Transparent Blue Bags are to be used for curbside collection of the following materials: Aluminum Cans, Beverage Containers (cans, bottles, milk & juice jugs/cartons & boxes), Clean Aluminum Foil & Plates, Glass Bottles & Jars (please remove lids & caps), Plastic Bottles & containers used for beverages, cleaners, windshield washer fluid and other household liquids (please remove caps & lids), Plastic Tubs & lids for yogurt, margarine, sour cream, cottage cheese and ice cream (please remove lids & caps), Plastic Bags including grocery, retail store carry out (please, empty & remove receipts), bread, produce, dry cleaning bags, rinsed milk bags. Separate Grocery Bags are to be used for curbside collection of the following materials: Clean/Dry Paper, Cards, Catalogues, Envelopes, Flyers, Junk Mail, Magazines, Newspapers, Non-Foil Gift Wrap, Paper Egg Cartons & Drink Trays, Paperback Books, Phone Book. The following Cardboard items must be flattened, bundled & securely tied with string in armload size bundles approximately 2ft x 3ft x 8in: Appliance Boxes, Pizza Boxes, Cereal Boxes (please remove plastic liner), Shoe Boxes, Cracker/Cookie Boxes, Paper Towel Rolls, Tissue Boxes, Detergent Boxes Please note: There is no limit to the amount of recycling collected bi-weekly at the curb 24 hour bins are available outside the Cold Lake Recycling Centre for household recyclables. All other recycling must be dropped off within centre operating hours. Organic Waste:All kitchen & yard waste must be bagged in heavy paper or compostable bags.
