Since the establishment of the Waste Reduction and Recycling (WRR) Office in 2001, there have been tremendous improvements towards the waste reduction and recycling efforts at NC State University. As of 2015, the University has achieved a 50% diversion rate.
NC State University actively creates procedures, procurement and a culture where source reduction of materials is the first priority for waste reduction followed by re-use and recycling. The University views waste as a potential loss of resources that would otherwise have economic and environmental benefits.
