  • How do I dispose of paints, pesticides, and household hazardous wastes?

Our public agency partners with the 59 communities in the county to offer local, frequent collection events for disposal of household hazardous wastes (HHW). The program is free to all Cuyahoga County households and provides environmentally-safe disposal of hazardous, flammable, poisonous, caustic or toxic household products that cannot be disposed in the regular trash. HHW is collected from residents by their city service department and is delivered to the District’s year-round Special Waste Convenience Center. Collection events are held year-round or seasonally at city service departments. The District's facility is not open to the general public. Cuyahoga County residents should contact their community for collection dates and details or visit www.cuyahogarecycles.org to find recycling and disposal information.

Cleveland residents must opt-in to the recycling program, and will receive designated stickers to place on their recycling cart. Details and opt-in instructions from the city’s Division of Waste Collection can be viewed at www.clevelandohio.gov/recycling or by calling (216) 664-3711. You can also dial 311.
