The County’s Solid Waste Management System is a completely integrated operation that includes the collection, transportation and disposal of all the solid waste generated or brought into the system. Hillsborough County partners with three private companies to provide curbside residential and commercial collection service. Also, both commercial and residential waste can be disposed of at the Southeast County Landfill (non-burnable waste), two Transfer Stations and three Yard Waste Processing Centers.

    Residential solid waste collection is scheduled twice per week. Recyclables and yard waste are each collected once per week. Please check the Curbside Collection & Recycling page for additional information.


  • If I place my solid waste (household garbage, recyclables or yard waste) out for collection and it is not picked up, what should I do?

    If your waste is not picked up, please contact your residential solid waste hauler immediately to report the missed pick-up: You may also call the Public Works Department, Solid Waste Management Division at (813) 272-5680 to report this.
