Recycling containers at the Jennings County Recycling Center are now set up for commingled recycling. Not only can collection trucks hold considerable more materials in a single load, but new recycling technology allows materials to be sorted later at a central location. An added bonus is that the Jennings Co. Recycling Center can now accept #3-#7 plastics along with its traditional #1-#2. This site accepts Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) such as cleaning chemicals, oil based paints and stains, insecticides and herbicides, etc. Special collections will fall on designated Saturdays in April and August throughout the year. Please consult the downloadable brochure for your county on this website to confirm exact collection dates and times. Residents of the Southeastern Indiana Recycling District may dispose of HHW year-round (during regular business hours) at the Jefferson County Recycling Center in Madison. SEIRD Recycle Centers no longer accept any oil-based paints and stains except on designated HHW collection days. Any unlabeled/unidentifiable items or latex paints can no longer be accepted. Fluorescent tubes and bulbs are the only HHW drop off items accepted at this recycling center during normal business hours. There is $1.00 per bulb charge for businesses and organizations. Pharmaceutical Waste Disposal Residents may drop off unused/out-of-date non-controlled and controlled medicines at the Jennings County Sheriff's Dept. at any time-24 hours a day and seven days a week. Landfill hours of operation are 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, with all commercial loads required to be on the ground by 2:30pm, Monday through Friday unless notified otherwise. Last acceptable load of the day must be on the ground by 2:30 pm unless exempted by landfill staff. Unless otherwise notified, landfill hours shall not include Saturdays, Sundays. When winds reach 25 mph the staff will determine if waste can be contained. If not, regular haulers will be called and given the time of closing. If the Landfill closes before 1:00 pm it may reopen the next regular business day an hour early, at the staffs discretion. If you are not sure if we are open, call 877-982-4288 to confirm. If it is windy and you get the answering machine, we are probably closed. Extended Hours Policy The Agency Board has come up with an Extended Hours Policy which will allow contractor or haulers to request the landfill to be open later. Further, FMC reserves the right to close and deny disposing at the landfill at any time for any purpose, including, but not limited to the purposes of repair, maintenance and renovation of the landfill. Holidays Observed Holidays observed are New Year’s Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, Day before Christmas, Christmas Day.

Description: Current Wind Closing Policy: When winds reach 25 mph the staff will determine if waste can be contained. If not, haulers will be called and notified the time of closing. If you are not sure if the landfill will be open, call 877-982-4288 to confirm. If it is windy and you get the answering machine, the landfill is probably closed. Covered Load Policy: To avoid an additional $20.00 fee all loads brought to the landfill must be entirely covered with a tarp, snow fence or similar item.. This includes lumber and large objects. Ropes alone are not considered a cover. Certain "difficult to cover loads" may be exempted on a case by case basis by the scale attendant. Acceptable Material for Disposal: Users may only dispose at the landfill, in accordance with permitted procedures, Commercial, Residential, and Construction and Demolition Waste which originates from Floyd, Mitchell or Chickasaw counties in Iowa. Construction and Demolition Waste includes Solid Waste from building materials, packaging, and rubble resulting from construction, remodeling, repair, and demolition operations on pavements, houses, commercial buildings, and other structures. Such waste may include: bricks, concrete, other masonry materials, soil, asphalt, rock, lumber, pallets, crates, rebar, glass, flooring, carpet and pad (only if the result of a remodel or demolition), sheet rock, roofing, insulation, windows, siding and gutters, steel and other metals generated by Construction and Demolition operations. Empty cans, buckets or tubes holding less than 10% construction products such as paints, adhesives, solvents or sealers. Special Waste: See FMC’s Special Waste Acceptance Criteria (SWAC) which follows. Items Not Acceptable for Disposal: Items not acceptable for disposal include free liquids, deposit beverage containers, brush and yard waste (including clippings, branches, trees, etc.), hazardous waste, and red bag medical waste. Household Hazardous Waste may be disposed of April – October at our satellite facilities (dates and times subject to change), or daily at the landfill. Tires and appliances must not be commingled with other waste. They are accepted in the trailer to the west of the office. Appliances that are demolished or burned are still considered an appliance and a separate charge applies. Items that shall be Recycled: CRT’s (monitors, televisions) have a separate fee and should not be commingled with other waste. Electronics such as vcr’s, stereos, computers, etc. may be recycled at no fee.

Description: Hardwick Recycling Center is located on 2011 Barre Rd. (Route 32), Wheelwright, MA a village of Hardwick MA. Our facility is open Wednesdays 9:00am-11:00am and Saturdays 8:00am-12:00pm. In addition to accepting cardboard, mixed paper, commingle and glass we also take in many (HMW) hard to manage waste items such as mercury containing, ewaste, scrap metals, tires, used oil filters, used antifreeze, appliances, textiles, fluorescent bulbs, pcb-containing ballasts, etc. For a detailed list and pricing you can visit our website.
