Please be mindful that certain items can't be dropped off in the Recycling bins, but must be brought out to Alpena Resource Recovery Facility to recycle. Check our website for details.

Description: Alpena Resource Recovery Facility (ARRF) is a one stop recycling facility. Residents in Alpena County pay $20.00 a year on their taxes to operate ARRF. Residents from out of county must get a permit to use our recycling bins, either by stopping by ARRF, or sending a check for $20.00 to NEMCOG PO Box 457, Gaylord, Mi. 49734 On the web go Alpena Recycling-Discover Northeast Michigan. On our home page you will find "What do I do with", click on an item you wish to recycle or dispose of. Even better fill out the information on the left and our Recycling Genie will do all the work for you. The Genie will direct you to either dispose of, direct you to the nearest recycling bin, or bring the item to ARRF for recycling. We have 9 site in Alpena County that residents can drop off recyclables. These sites are listed on our home page on the Web. Contamination is a very big problem. On each of the 9 recycling bins is a list of items to recycle, and not to recycle. We ask that you pay close attention to not to recycle. We have an annual free electronics day for Alpena County residents held on the last Saturday of April each year. We also have on the 1st Saturday of May of each year a free countywide cleanup day. Drop Off Recycling Center hours are Tuesday and Thursday 8:30 am- 6:30 pm and Saturday 9:00 am-6:00pm. They accept a broader range of materials including: Antifreeze (up to 1 gallon), batteries (automotive & rechargeable), books (hard & soft cover), cardboard/OCC, cloth/fabrics/linens (up to 3 bags), glass containers, hard plastics, magazines, metal/steel, motor oil (up to 5 gallons), office paper, oil filters, paper products, plastic bags, single stream recyclables, styrofoam, vegetable Oil (up to 5 gallons). Curbside Recycling accepted materials include: Plastic bottles or tubs with numbers 1 (PET), 2 (HDPE), 4 (LDPE), 5 (PP), No. 6 (PS) or No. 7 on the bottom. Clear, green, and brown glass food and beverage containers - bottles and jars only. Tin & aluminum, including cans, foil, and trays. Scrap metal up to 1 cubic foot. Clean milk cartons & juice boxes, Paper Goods, Corrugated Cardboard & Boxboard, Cereal boxes, cardboard egg cartons, and similar type material. Newspaper, magazines, junk mail, and paperback books.

Description: Ypsilanti, is a city in Washtenaw County in the U.S. state of Michigan, perhaps best known as the home of Eastern Michigan University. As of the 2010 census, the city's population was 21,018. The city is bounded to the north by Superior Township and on the west, south, and east by Ypsilanti Township. Ypsilanti is located 6 miles (10 km) east of Ann Arbor and about 18 miles (29 km) west of the Detroit city limits. The City has two major components to its recycling program: weekly curbside single stream pick-up and drop-off recycling in partnership with Recycle Ann Arbor.

Description: The Northeast Indiana Solid Waste Management District (NISWMD) was created by the general assembly in 1990 and given the task of reducing the municipal solid waste stream through resource management technologies such as waste reduction, recycling, composting and even some reuse networks. In 1992, the Indiana Department of Environmental Management approved the NISWMD Solid Waste Management Plan. NISWMD is a joint solid waste district comprised of DeKalb, LaGrange, Noble and Steuben Counties. The area is 61% rural and 39% urban. A board of directors governs the NISWMD and is made up of local elected officials from each county. NISWMD is subject to the same budgetary process, public meeting, public hearing, public bidding and accountability standards as all other governmental units in Indiana. Using the budget that is primarily from the property tax base, the NISWMD strives to provide meaningful solid waste reduction services and programs to the residents it serves. Programs have ebbed and flowed with solid waste trends and the NISWMD has remained an excellent local resource for residents to divert waste.
